『Omar talks "Calibration"』
『キャリブレーション』は、アムステルダムに住んでいた2005年に出来たアルバムだ。最近リリースしたばかりのアルバム『Se Dice Bisonte No Bufalo』と同じく、いつもの仲間たちに協力してもらったよ。どれかの曲を彼らが作り上げている間に、こっちは他の曲を完成させる、という形でね。エレクトロニックやダブの重視、シンセを基調に持って来た曲作りをしたから、このアルバムはロックと言うよりも「DE FACTO」のテイストに近いものになっていると思うよ。
『キャリブレーション』には、ボーカルとしてCedric Bixler ZavalaとJohn Fruscianteが登場する。他にもThomas PridgenやJuan Alderete de la Pena、Money Markを始めとしたミュージシャンが参加してくれた。アルバムデザインを手がけてくれたのは世界的なグラフィティ・アーティストのGREY。彼は幼なじみでもあり、ずっとコラボレーションを続けているパートナーでもあるんだ。

Calibration is the next in a series of albums written while Omar Rodriguez Lopez was living in Amsterdam in 2005. Similar to the recent Se Dice Bisonte No Bufalo album, Omar utilized his usual cast of contributors to perform some of the tracks, while completing others by himself. With an emphasis on electronic, dub and synth-based compositions, the resulting album has more in common with Rodriguez's DE FACTO output than with his rock-oriented work. Calibration includes vocal appearances by Cedric Bixler Zavala and John Frusciante, as well as performances by Thomas Pridgen, Juan Alderete de la Pena, Money Mark, and more. Album art was created by world-reknowned graffiti artist GREY, a childhood friend of Omar's and longtime artistic collaborator.

Omar Rodriguez Lopez / オマー・ロドリゲス・ロペス
1975年プエルトリコ生まれ。94年にテキサスでセドリック・ビクスラー(vo)らとAT THE DRIVE INを結成。2001年の解散後、セドリックとともにロックバンド：THE MARS VOLTAを結成する。アルバム制作ではプロデューサーも兼ねており、「THE MARS VOLTAの頭脳」とも称される。
バンド活動と並行してのソロ活動も盛んで、計4作のソロアルバムを発表している他、ダモ鈴木やリディア・ランチ等とのコラボレーション作品もリリースし、映画音楽も手がけている。ダブ・ユニット、デ・ファクトなどでも作品を発表し、2004年にはファースト・ソロ『A Manual Dexterity:Soundtrack Volume 1』を発表。2007年に『Se Dice Bisonte, No Bufalo』を発表した。
