I decided to write my 3rd record in Thailand. I am not sure what originally compelled me to choose that country, I think it was what I didn't know about it that drew me there, the feeling of stepping out into the unknown, the thrill of an adventure and for the things I was hoping to learn about a new place, myself and life in general. My first record was recorded in a small town in Holland called Amersfoort, my second in Toronto, and it felt right to go to the other side of the world for this.

The things that happen in my every day life really seem to work themselves into my music and this record was no exception. This record is lined with the feelings I had while on Koh Samui, a hot gorgeous, somewhat overly touristy Island in the gulf of Thailand. I can't say there is one specific theme through this album other than it's an exploration into myself and the way I was reacting to things. I was diving through the warm waters of myself. It was like a little fantasy world gone wrong, a revolving door of visitors that we never had enough time to get to know. I really began to realize that it was culture that I craved: people to talk to, to share ideas with. It was this lack of culture, this isolation from the world that shaped what was to be the lyrical content of this record.

I settled on the north end of the island simply because I really liked the beach there, got a house and set up a little studio in it and started working right away. Soon after we arrived, there was a month long monsoon that added to my isolation and kept me inside hiding from the rain, and it was out of this that my first finished song was formed, "Gentle Samui". I have the luxury of re-recording vocals in an amazing studio in Toronto but the sounds that accompany my vocals in most of these tracks were subtle reminders to these journal entrees are so perfect to me that I felt it was important to not re do them. I didn't care if the rain on the roof was in each take, or a bird chirping outside was almost singing along with me. The performances I got seemed to be appropriate to what this album has become - a year in my life in a hot paradise riddled with flaws.

After finishing this record I really felt I needed to do something more collaborative so I hooked up with a good friend of mine, Paul Pfisterer whom I play live with. We started working out a very organic record, all live piano, drums, guitar, bass and some very sweet guest performances by amazing female vocalists and classical players. It will still be a bit till that is even close to complete but I am loving the process so far. I also have an apartment in Montreal where I have been working on another 4 song EP that is very electronic and true to my style. I am hoping to see much more of the world in this year to come through live performances from the U.S. to Europe to Japan.

[[[ Milosh PROFILE ]]]
